New app helps to keep track of child support payments

Divorce can be a fairly simple procedure in Maryland when the couple is somewhat amicable and they do not need to go to court. Papers are drawn up, assets and debts are divided, and legal fees are paid. In the end, while it can be emotionally painful, the legal process can be painless. This may not be the case when it comes to allocating and keeping track of child support.

This is the reason a woman has come up with an app called SupportPay. Available for iOS and Android smartphones, this app helps divorced spouses keep track of child support income and expenses. One of the ways it does this is it allows store receipts to be scanned so the other party can keep track of what is purchased. Another way it helps divorced couples is triggering an alert to a paying spouse if expenses go over a certain limit.

In the end, SupportPay helps to remove some of the uncertainty and distrust many divorced parents face when dealing with child support. Not only does it assist in keeping track of all expenses related to the funds but it also has the potential of increasing dialogue between the former spouses to determine if an increase or decrease of money is needed. For the spouse paying the child support, SupportPay helps to determine what can be deducted from tax returns.

Divorced spouses may run into problems when it comes to the allocation and division of support payments. In situations where the discussions yield no further solution, an attorney that has experience in family law may need to be consulted. The attorney may be able to review financial information in order to come up with an agreeable solution.
